The Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC)<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>is responsible for licensing and regulation of real estate brokers and affiliate brokers. Their aim is to provide protection to the public through enforcement of professional conduct within the industry. The TREC establishes minimum requirements for candidates and licensing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The age requirements to obtain a Tennessee affiliate Broker\u2019s license is at least 18 years of age. Each applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state mandates each applicant to successfully complete a 60-hour Real Estate Principles Course before registering to take the licensing exam. In addition to the first education requirements, applicants must complete the TN 30-hour course for New Affiliates before applying for a license. Approved schools can be found through the TREC website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each person can register for the Affiliate Broker\u2019s Exam through PSI Exams,<\/a> the state\u2019s exam provider. This exam is 120 questions broken into 2 portions, covering both state and national requirements. The passing score is a minimum of 70% and must be passed within six months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before application, both fingerprinting for a background check and proof of errors and omissions insurance are required. An application must be submitted with a picture which is obtained at a testing center upon successful completion of the TN examination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The continuing education needed every two years for a licensee is 16 hours in real estate courses which must include the 6-hour TN required Core Course. The renewal fee of $75 is due prior to the expiry date. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
