The governing agency responsible for regulation and licencing in the state is the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. According to the Commission’s Mission Statements, they safeguard public interest and provide resources to keep high standards of knowledge and ethical practice for all licensees within the state. 

In order to be prequalified to obtain a license, one must be at least 18 years of age, have good moral character, and have proof of citizenship or qualified alien status. The education necessary when it comes to pre-licensing is a complete 90 hour of approved basic real estate course. The Commission will also accept 6 college credit hours in a real estate discipline for the education component. 

OK mandates each person pass  a national background check that includes fingerprinting. Each Sales associate licensee must be sponsored by a broker to have an active license status. 

The Oklahoma real estate license exam has 80 questions on the national portion and 40 questions on the state-specific portion with a passing score of at least 75%. The exams are administered by PSI Services, LLC at the examination centers located in Oklahoma City, McAlester, Tulsa, and Woodward. 

For each three year renewable license year, a sales associate has a 21 hour continuing education requirement.
